Multi-Server Management
Connect to multiple Komga servers and switch between them seamlessly. Perfect for managing separate libraries - like personal and shared collections or different content types.
Why Use Multiple Servers?
Section titled “Why Use Multiple Servers?”Separate Libraries: Keep your personal manga collection separate from shared family content
Different Locations: Access your home server and a friend’s server without constant re-login
Content Organization: Dedicate servers to specific content types (comics, manga, webtoons)
Multiple Accounts: Connect to the same server with different user accounts
Adding Additional Servers
Section titled “Adding Additional Servers”Once you’ve connected your first server (free), you can add more with Komic+:
- Open Settings → Servers
- Tap Add Server
- Enter the server details:
- Server Name (optional): Give it a friendly name like “Home Server” or “John’s Comics”
- Server URL: The full URL (
https://comics.example.com) - Username and Password: Your login credentials for this server
- Tap Test Connection to verify it works. If successful, it will save the server.
Komic stores each server’s credentials separately in iOS Keychain.
Switching Between Servers
Section titled “Switching Between Servers”There are two ways to switch:
Quick Switcher (Recommended):
- Tap the server name in the top navigation bar
- Select the server you want from the dropdown
- Komic immediately switches and loads that library
From Settings:
- Open Settings → Servers
- Tap the server you want to switch to
- The active server shows a checkmark
When you switch servers, Komic:
- Tests the connection to ensure the server is reachable
- Loads the credentials from Keychain
- Refreshes the library to show the new server’s content
Managing Servers
Section titled “Managing Servers”Editing Server Details
Section titled “Editing Server Details”Need to update a server’s URL or credentials?
- Settings → Servers
- Tap the ••• menu next to the server
- Update any details you need to change
- Test Connection to verify the changes. If successful, it will save the server.
Deleting Servers
Section titled “Deleting Servers”To remove a server:
- Settings → Servers → ••• menu
- Tap Delete Server
- Confirm the deletion
Komic will remove the server profile, delete all credentials, and clean up all downloaded content associated with that server.
How Content Isolation Works
Section titled “How Content Isolation Works”Each server maintains separate data in specific ways:
Library Content: Switching servers shows completely different libraries - browsing is isolated per server
Reading Progress: Your reading position on each server is tracked independently
Downloads: All downloads from all servers appear together in the Downloads tab for unified offline access
Settings: Global app settings (reading direction, zoom, etc.) apply to all servers
This means you can:
- Browse different libraries by switching servers
- Read to page 50 on one server and page 100 on another server for the same book
- See all your downloaded content in one place, regardless of which server it’s from
- Download the same book from different servers if needed (they’re stored separately)
Background Sync
Section titled “Background Sync”If you have sync enabled (Komic+), all your servers sync automatically:
- Each server syncs its reading progress independently
- The active server is prioritized when syncing
- Background sync continues for inactive servers
- Credentials are managed separately per server
See Sync & Multi-Device for more details.
Naming Servers: Use descriptive names to easily identify them (“Home NAS”, “Cloud Server”, “Friend’s Library”)
Testing Connections: Always test before saving to catch configuration errors early
Organization: Consider dedicating servers to specific content types or languages for easier management
Access Control: You can connect to the same Komga server multiple times with different user accounts to access different libraries
