Controls & Interaction
Komic provides multiple ways to navigate your comics and manga, from traditional touch gestures to hardware button support and customizable tap zones.
Customizable Tap Areas
Section titled “Customizable Tap Areas”Tap areas allow you to define which parts of the screen advance or reverse pages. You can choose from several presets to match your preference or other e-reader apps you might use.
Tap Area Presets
Section titled “Tap Area Presets”- Left-Right: Simple thirds. Left 1/3 goes back, right 1/3 goes forward, middle 1/3 toggles controls.
- Kindle Style: Large forward area. Small strip on the far left (25%) goes back, the rest (75%) goes forward.
- L-Shaped: Optimized for thumb reaches. Top-left corner goes back, bottom-right area goes forward.
- Kobo Style: Nine-grid layout. Left column goes back, right column and most of the middle go forward.
- Disabled: All taps toggle the reader controls.
Configuration
Section titled “Configuration”Settings → Reader → Tap Areas
Inside this menu, you can see a visual preview of each mode and how the zones are laid out.
Hardware Button Support
Section titled “Hardware Button Support”Volume Buttons
Section titled “Volume Buttons”You can use the physical volume buttons on your iPhone or iPad to navigate. This is perfect for one-handed reading or when using a case that blocks part of the screen.

Keyboard Shortcuts
Section titled “Keyboard Shortcuts”If you use a physical keyboard with your iPad or Mac, you can navigate using standard keys:
- Next page: Right Arrow (→) for LTR/RTL, Down Arrow (↓) for Vertical/Webtoon
- Previous page: Left Arrow (←) for LTR/RTL, Up Arrow (↑) for Vertical/Webtoon
- Show reader controls: Escape (Esc)
Apple Pencil Interaction
Section titled “Apple Pencil Interaction”For iPad users, Komic supports Apple Pencil gestures for a truly hands-free reading experience.
- Double Tap: Advanced to the next page.
- Squeeze: (Apple Pencil Pro only) Advanced to the next page.
- Enable:
